The toddler bed rail is included with this crib (it’s a separate purchase for many cribs) and you can also convert it to a day bed and headboard / footboard (bed rails or frame needed).

You can also convert this crib to a day bed or full size bed, but extra bed rails will need to be purchased. There are four mattress support levels. The New Zealand pine that makes up the Jacob crib is grown in sustainable forests. About $250.

How To Choose Your Baby Bottles

Before we jump into explaining the different types of bottles, nipples, liners, holders etc, one thing important to note, that for most babies (if not all) the best if the mommy can breastfeed. Of course it’s unavoidable sooner or later to use bottles (ie: traveling etc), but later is better.

“Classic glass baby bottles are regaining popularity thanks to recent news about chemicals found in some plastics. Glass bottles are easy to care for and last a long time, but do pose the risk of cuts to mom or baby if one breaks. Plastic bottles may not last as long, but are economical and easy to find in stores.” – Heather Corley

“There are essentially three types of baby bottles: plastic, plastic with disposable liners, and glass.

Although the jury is still out on bisphenol A, if you want to avoid any bottles that contain it, look for the #7 recycling symbol or “PC” on the bottom. That’s usually a sign that the bottle contains BPA. However, not all plastics labeled with #7 recycling code contain BPA. Some bottle brands, such as Born Free, explicitly say that their products are not made of Bisphenol A.” – webmd

Which Baby Car Seat Should I Pick?

The Baby Car Seat is one of those things that you can’t go cheap on, you need to buy it new. Why? First of all, you will never know if the seat was in an accident (it can never be used again!), or how old the car seat really is. There is an expiration date on every car seat for a reason.

There are a couple types that you need to be aware of:

  • Infant Carrier (Infant Car Seat)
  • Convertible Car Seat
  • Booster Seat
While you can always start off with a regular Infant Carrier Seat, if your baby is a giant, you will only be using it for a couple of months. So you might be better off with a Convertible Seat from the begin with, they are a little more expensive than an Infant Seat, you’ll get more for your money in the long run.

The other thing that is important to note, that the Booster Seat can only face forward. (the Infant and the Convertible can face backwards which is required by law until the kid is 2 years old!)

As a first time parent it is always a hard decision to figure out what will be the best for your baby. Just because the item is expensive, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s that much better, but you don’t wanna buy a used stroller with 3.5 wheels or some chewed-up plastic nipple for your bottles either.

We’re gonna try to introduce you to some basic guidelines mixed with our own experience  and compare the highest rated products including baby-cribs, strollers, bottles, formulas, car-seats and whatever we can think of.
